What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a coding marathon event where people design and implement solutions to problems, or create new and creative softwares.

Can I work in a team?

Competitors are allowed to work individually or in teams of up to 4 people.

What do I need to pay for?

FirebirdHacks is completely free of charge! All food, drinks, and swag are included as we want to create the best possible environment for hackers.

What is Firebird Hacks

Firebird Hacks will be a fun way for hackers to get together and design innovative and useful solutions. Firebird Hacks, we will provide a learning environment for people of all experience levels to come and code!

Are there any required prerequisites?

While at our hackathon, you must adhere to firebird hacks and mlh guidelines. Precoding is forbidden, and is considered cheating.

What will I need to bring?

You will need a laptop, a valid student ID (or some sort of student ID), chargers, your phone, a blanket/sleeping bag, toiletries, and any supplies you need for your hack.

Is experience needed?

Not at all! In fact, Firebird hacks is a great way to begin your programming journey! A basic understanding is recommended, but we will have workshops and mentors to help you make your project idea a reality.

We bring together hundreds of high school students from across the Bay Area to work together and make their ideas a reality.

We'll provide the food, refreshments and hacking spaces for you—the hackers—to do your magic. Just bring your ideas and your passion!
